At Hillcrest Dental, we welcome your children to our dental practice and enjoy making high quality dentistry accessible for every member of your family.
We begin treating children at the age of six months to set a healthy foundation for their smiles.
Dentistry is new to kids and can be stressful for both children and parents. We follow a tell-show-do method of introducing your child to dental care. This alleviates stress and helps them understand the treatment they receive.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
Our gentle and friendly staff will make your child’s first visit a special one.
We help enable each child to develop a positive attitude toward dentistry. Your child’s first visit will allow you to familiarize your child with our dental office and team. We will also take time to discuss any concerns or questions parents have because communication is essential to your child’s health.
After an exam, we will demonstrate proper methods for cleaning your child’s teeth and gums and go over what to expect as your child develops.
Customized Dentistry as Your Child Grows
As your child grows, their diet changes, and their dental needs change. We will help you maintain good oral health at home, go over nutritional considerations, and integrate additional preventive dentistry into their oral care routine, as needed.
Preventive dentistry can have a lifelong impact on the health of your child’s smile. As they grow, we offer additional treatments to keep their precious smiles beautiful and comfortable.
Professional dental cleanings – Even if you have an impeccable home care routine, a toothbrush and floss is not enough! Tartar can build up between teeth and just beneath your child’s gumline. Our gentle, yet thorough, hygiene team will clear away any residual tartar to help prevent decay and gum disease.
Bitewing x-rays – Bitewing x-rays help us diagnose dental decay and are one of the most important tools used in early diagnosis to keep your little one’s smile healthy.
Fluoride treatments – Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and protect against decay. This is especially valuable for patients who have deep grooves in their teeth.
Protective sealants – Dental sealants create a barrier between the chewing surface of your child’s teeth and the bacteria and food particles that cause decay. They are a cost-effective alternative to fillings and can last for up to five years. When they eventually wear off, we can replace them for additional protection.
Does you child require a restoration? We offer high-quality fillings and crowns. Baby (primary) teeth are important since they guide the growth of their permanent teeth. Protecting them is essential!
